Darby Webber has brought her enthusiasm and passion for teaching five and six-year-olds to the classroom for over 14 years. A Kindergarten teacher at New Canaan Country School in New Canaan, CT, she is a community builder who honors deep connections with children, families, and the greater education world. In her classroom, Darby honors the process of teaching children by developing a strong sense of self through modeling, encouragement, support, and guidance. Darby holds a BA in History and Childhood Education from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. Shortly after, she continued her studies and received a Masters of Professional Studies degree in Literacy and Special Education from Manhattanville where she was awarded a Certificate of Recognition in Literacy and Special Education for academic excellence in 2016. Darby was awarded the Laverack Family Faculty Chair in 2018 from New Canaan Country School and held that award through 2020. Most recently, Darby is pursuing an Orton Gillingham Associate Level Reading training and serves as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Facilitator at New Canaan Country School. Outside of school, Darby can often be found with a book in her hands, enjoys Sunday dinners with her family and friends, and joyfully talks way too much about the newest fitness classes she is attending
