2. Fill out the online application and online code of conduct form.
Once you are accepted:
1. Evaluate the required dates of meetings and travel and inform the director of any conflicts.
2. Mail a $100.00 non-refundable deposit to Peggy Esselman at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School no later than 5 business days after your acceptance into the HETO group to reserve your plane ticket.

3. Apply for your passport or verify that your current passport will be valid for at least six months after the return date of your trip.
4. Attend HETO Kickoff Gazebo Meeting to begin plans for the upcoming trip. During this meeting we will discuss the program expectations and ask you to sign an agreement detailing your pre and post trip responsibilities.
5. Begin to plan any individual fundraising activities to pay for the trip. Attend all HETO group fundraising events and invite family and friends to attend with you.
6. Brainstorm ideas for the lesson plan you will share with your partner school’s teachers and others while on the trip. List materials you will need to purchase/collect (plan for approximately 100 students for the week) to bring with you to make your lesson a success. Plan to leave these materials with the schools so that they can continue to use your plan in the future.
7. Continue to attend all HETO planning meetings and share your ideas and concerns.
8. Investigate medical and travel insurance. This is an individual decision and should be handled at least 6 weeks prior to travel.
9. Receive necessary shots and medications for safe travel. These can be done individually through one’s personal doctor or with the HETO group, shortly before the trip.
