Since 2004, more than 40 teachers from 12 Indiana schools have traveled to Honduras with HETO's "Teachers Making Connections" Program. Many teachers have returned multiple times to continue their work in Honduras and have integrated their work into their Indiana classroom.
All teacher participation is endorsed and supported by the principals of the above schools as professional development opportunities.
Mickey Lentz, Director of Education at the Archdiocese of Indianapolis fully endorses Heart in Education Teacher Outreach.
Zionsville Community High School students, inspired by their Spanish teacher who participated in the program, have created Operation: Honduras. Op: H is a student run club whose focus is to raise awareness and funds to assist the educators and students in Honduras.
Over the last four years we have donated approximately 4.5 tons of school supplies to Honduran educators and students. We have accomplished this by involving Indianapolis students, parents and educators to become involved in a larger school community.
