Students memorized biographies of famous Indiana natives and
“came alive” to tell the oral biographies when donations were
dropped into their buckets.

which was used for dry erase boards and specific school
materials.

students for lunch, who then paid $3.00 per meal.
-
Cheese
Pizza To-Go Fundraiser – presented by the SJOA seventh graders as
part of their service learning focus

Students took orders for pre-made cheese pizzas from Marco’s
pizza to community members during lent. The fundraiser took in
approximately $250.
Zionsville
Community High
School

Coffee
for a Cause – presented by the Operation: Honduras Club, a
student-led club of approximately 25 students
-
This
project raised approximately $750 to purchase a new cello for
Gustavo, a musician and teacher at the Flor Azul School.
Gustavo will be able to use the cello to teach the students

instrument in real life
-
Shoe
Collection – presented by the Operation: Honduras Club
-
This
project collected approximately 100 pairs of athletic and casual
shoes for the boys at the Flor Azul School. Many of the boys at

because they do not have comfortable shoes that fit them
correctly.
-
Used
School Supply Collections – presented by the Operation: Honduras
Club
-
The
ZCHS students have twice collected used school supplies at the
end of the school year from ZCHS and the middle and elementary
schools. These school supplies are paired with new supplies for
all HETO schools.
-
ZCHS
Chili Cook-off – presented by the Operation: Honduras Club
-
This
fundraiser was the kick-off event to raise $5000 to build a new
kindergarten building at the Quiscamote school. The students
raised approximately $1600 at the Chili Cook-off by selling
tickets to community members and students. Each ticket allowed
the guests to sample 30 different chilis, eat a bowl of their
favorite (along with cornbread and a drink). The event also
sold desserts for an additional cost and did a 50-50 raffle.
-
Cell
Phone Drive – presented by the Operation: Honduras Club
-
This
project was part of the fundraising effort for the Quiscamote
kindergarten. Students collected used cell phones and mailed
them to EcoPhones, who in turn paid the students for each
phone. After two cell phone drives, the students earned $100
-
Justo
Lamas Concert – presented by the Operation: Honduras Club
-
Justo
Lamas, an Argentinian singer, came to ZCHS to give a concert to
Spanish students. The tickets were $12.00 for students, but the
club decided to charge $15.00 and earned $440 for the Quiscamote
kindergarten.
-
Classroom
Contests – presented by the Operation: Honduras Club
-
The
Op: H Club sponsored classroom contests to raise additional
money for the kindergarten. The club offered each Spanish class
a small party if the class was able to donate at least $3.00 per
student to the cause. The class with the highest level of
donations per student received a pizza party with all the
trimmings from the club.
